Fostex
Equipment All our recording are done on a Fostex VF-80. This simple machine has real pedigree when it comes to high quality 'skin' and recording enhancement effects. And it scores over PC software driven options by being portable, dedicated (no other applications to distract you) and (once you get to know) simple to use. Its a few years old now and we still love it.

Korg Mike has used his pocket size (hey - dont try and guess the gag, wait for it ok...) Pandora tone box to get all the tones he needs, both live and (where needed) when recording. We even have the nerve to use its built in rhythms as backing for blues songs and occasional other numbers (a cheap trick but then hey, so are we). Its survived beer spillages, droppage, wire fatigue and still keeps turning out great sounds.

Zoom
(Samson Products) Since we started using their RT series drum/bass boxes, we never looked back. Hey, a drum machine scores over the real thing 'cos you only have to punch the information in once. The challenge is to make it sound not like a machine, but it can be done (listen to Gone to the USA on our 2nd CD for some loose drumming)!

Simon
and Patrick Guitars Oh yummy yum yum, the best deal I ever did was buying one of their handmade acoustic guitars way back in 1997. There are better guitars, but not many, and they cost serious money. I love my S&P - its got a good tone and a great feel to play. And its seen some action. Mike

Yamaha Do they make any bad products? I dont think so. Mike's Pacifica was cheap, plays absolutely great and only needs Stratocaster/Telecaster pickups to make him 100% happy

Hohner The benchmark in blues harps. One of Mikes old mates is Steve Baker, now one of the worlds best harp players (if you go for that top of the class stuff - he's just a f***ing great player), writer of THE book on the history of the blues harp and now a consultant to Hohner, with a harp (the SB Special) made and marketed to his specification. Well old Mike tries, and so does Damo, but they arent on the same planet as Steve (who once told Mike, by the way, that 'music is too important to be left solely to professionals, so get out there and play' - we took him at his word).
